Quality Assurance Committee (CISRSQAC)

Independent Oversight Introduced for Scaffolding Training

The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) has launched the CISRS Quality Assurance Committee (CISRSQAC) Ltd, a new independent body set up to oversee training and governance in the scaffolding and access sector.

Replacing the former Access and Scaffolding Industry Training Organisation, the new committee will be employer-led with union input. It will work with CITB and ECITB to monitor training standards, course development, and certification, while also addressing future industry needs.

Key stakeholders, including Unite, the Scaffolding Association, and accredited training centres, will hold seats on the committee. An independent chair will be appointed to ensure impartiality. According to the NASC, the move puts training oversight directly into industry hands and strengthens international confidence in the CISRS scheme.

What this means for scaffolding companies:

  • Training will face stricter oversight, ensuring scaffolders are properly qualified.
  • CISRS cards gain more credibility with clients, boosting trust.
  • Employers get a stronger voice in shaping training and future skills.
  • Standards will be clearer, making compliance easier to follow.
  • International recognition could open more work opportunities abroad.

Overall, companies benefit from higher training quality and reputation — but with less room for shortcuts.
